Parivar Chaupal or family meetings have been chosen as appropriate platforms to engage families, particularly husbands and mothers-in-law to address gendered norms within the household that leave women eating least and last, and lead to early and poorly spaced pregnancies. This is an initiative of the Chhattisgarh Rural Livelihood’s Mission (BIHAN) with technical and training support from ROSHNI-CWCSA.

Training women cadre to conduct FNHW PLA meetings for women

Chhattisgarh Rural Livelihoods Mission (BIHAN’s) Poshan Sakhis or nutrition guides from Kesharpal, Chamiya, Ghotiya and Parchanpal clusters of Bastar block were trained by ROSHNI in participatory learning and action (PLA) techniques to trigger conversations about diet  diversity and maternal nutrition. These trainings are part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen service delivery for delivery for mothers in Bastar and to enhance demand for these services.

Gender micro-planing to address social norms affecting women & adolescent girls' health & nutrition

Micro-planning meetings were conducted with 18 village organisations (VO) across Ghotiya Cluster, a model Cluster Level Federation (CLF) at Bastar block, Chhattisgarh. This was part of ongoing support to the State Rural Livelihoods Mission (BIHAN). BIHAN seeks to enhance the gender responsiveness of its Swabhimaan Programme which is led by BIHAN’s women collectives to enhance the health and nutrition status of women and adolescent girls.

Sensitisation of BIHAN’s Gender Resource Persons on gendered issues affecting nutrition

Six of the Chhattisgarh Rural Livelihoods Mission’s (BIHAN) gender resource persons (GRPs) were oriented on addressing food, nutrition, health and WASH issues facing women and adolescent girls in their communities in a two day workshop.
